Data Management Planning Workshop, November 14, 2005, Columbia, South Carolina

This is an invitation-only, one-day planning workshop of oceanographic data managers and database administrators and computer geeks. This is part of a larger effort to move towards building data management infrastructure for the future Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association (SECOORA).

There are two main goals for this one-day workshop--an opportunity to discuss regional data management at a technical level and to plan the scope and content for a regional data management workshop to be held in the Spring 2006.

Most of the day will be spent discussing data management and data sharing practices. We'll have updates from recent technical workshops (MMI, OOSTech2005, QARTOD-III, OceanUS DMAC). We can discuss any outcome from these meetings as they pertain to the Southeast region. Some time will be dedicated for planning content for an upcoming data managers workshop to be held in Spring 2006. In addition, two technical tutorials will be presented. Finally, it will be a great opportunity to get to know technical folks in the Southeast region and share technical expertise over a favorite beverage.

Monday, November 14, 2005 from 8:30AM to 5:00PM. This is the day before the Fall 2005 SEACOOS Workshop, to be held November 15-16.

We will meet in Baruch Institute Conference Room, #604, in the Earth, Water, Science Building, #89 on the campus map, on Monday, November 14th. This is a 4-5 block walk from the Marriott. The hotel is at the corner of Main and Hampton. Following is a link to the USC campus map.
